Temple of Christ Restoration Ministry

Pastor Melvin and Minister Melinda May are no strangers to drug addiction. Between the two of them, they have over 20 years experience helping others whom struggled with addiction, and speak and act from experience with overcoming addiction themselves.  

Pastor Melvin struggled with  substance abuse for over 20 years in the streets of Houston Texas. He has gone through the process of restoration himself when he relocated to Austin, Texas and entered the Austin Restoration Ministries discipleship program . He was equipped with the tools and resources needed to turn his life around and became  an effective servant of the Lord; ministering to others and devoting his life to helping others whom have succumbed to drug addiction.

Minister Melinda came from the streets of Miami, Florida where illegal substances were all to easily accessible. One bad decision led to others, and as her addiction continued to take her into a downward spiral, Melinda turned to the streets; ultimately losing  custody and valuable years with her two young sons. On a self-destructive path, and wishing death upon herself, she found redemption and restoration in the Austin Restoration Ministries discipleship program as her last and final hope of staying alive and regaining all that she had lost. Today, Melinda knows fully how much the Lord was protecting her even when she was at her worst.

As the Word of God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11:  God knows the plans that He has for our lives. They are good and not of evil, to give us a future and a hope.

Today Melinda enjoys her restored life through servitude to the Lord by giving back to her community and helping others who battle with addiction.  She does so while being married to a man that loves her for all she has been through.  Both Melinda and Melvin are involved in the lives of the sons she once lost.  Her sons are grown men living their own lives, and Melinda and Melvin have been blessed with the joy of a daughter from their union.  Currently, their daughter is in school excelling in her studies thanks in part to the stable home environment afforded to her.     

Both Pastor Melvin and Minister Melinda share testimony of how they called out on the name of Jesus in desperation and their prayers were answered.  After each went through the process of restoration, and living a truly free and clean life, they saw it fit to pay it forward by helping others in reaching what seemed to be once so unattainable to them:

Tommie and Cynthia have been married for 20 years with most of those years on the rough streets of Oklahoma City. They had lost everything and couldn’t find freedom from drug addiction. Both were searching for something better.  When approached with the opportunity to come into the nine-month discipleship program at the Temple of Christ Restoration Ministry, neither hesitated. 

They both accepted Jesus and their process of restoration has already bear fruit through the renewing of communications with their once estranged families.
